No one wants to be tied down to one place by a wire anymore. The invention of wireless technology has allowed people to not only connect to the Internet and phone lines, but also to other electronics. And the more we learn about becoming wireless, the more things become wire free. In time, it might be possible to deliver electricity without a plug or wire, can you imagine? The more wireless the world becomes, the more opportunities to move into new places.

Wireless in Your House

When you’re at home you probably use one of two wireless services:

• Wireless PAN – These are the wireless connections that are Bluetooth or short range. For example, your phone or your PDA might be able to connect over short distances at home.
• Wireless LAN – But it’s the LAN network that helps you the most at home, connecting laptops to the Internet, even when they’re in the other room.

These wireless technologies are allowing you the opportunity to connect whenever you want, wherever you want. And while this might not be necessary all the time, the truth is that the more connected you are, the more you can do. No longer do you need to share a computer room. You can have the Internet up in your bedroom, where you can escape distractions.

Wireless Around Town

You can also connect to wireless networks in your town. There are a number of different ways you can get online with your laptop, netbook, notebook, or call phone.

• Wireless MAN – The municipal wireless network can be provided in a city to help bring people into the city square more often with free WIFI.
• Wireless WAN – The WAN network is a smaller wireless network, like those in restaurants or other venues.
• GSM – The GSM network is the system on which your cell phone operates. The signal strength helps you connect faster, so the more towers there are to broadcast this network, the better for your phone time.
• PCS – And PCS is a smaller version of the wireless network, helping you connect to the cellular network.

Wireless is everywhere – just as it should be.

The Future of Wireless

Now were are in days where the idea of 3G and 4G are becoming the buzzwords in wireless, especially when it comes to our cell phones. The networks are becoming larger and larger, and faster and faster. The faster they become, the better they will be able to be used. And when wireless becomes an afterthought, which it already has, the only thing to do is to make it even more accessible and faster.

Wireless networks are covering the entire globe, and even Mount Everest now gets a signal. While this sounds ridiculous to some, staying connected is essential in a world that expects this sort of connection. Might as well have wireless everywhere, even if that does mean you’re never alone anymore.
